Syria Crisis

Oxfam in Syria

Eleven years of war are stretching the resilience and coping abilities of Syrians to the limit. Nine out of ten Syrians live below the poverty line with 70 per cent suffering from food insecurity and requiring humanitarian assistance. Further, almost 60 per cent of the population requires health assistance, while more than half of public health-care facilities are either closed or only partially operational.

Of Syria's 22 million residents, over half the country's population has fled: 6.3 million Syrians are internally displaced, and 5 million people have sought refuge beyond their borders, sometimes living in refugee camps or sub-standard lodgings, often in extreme poverty.
