Hurricane Matthew
October 2016
The Category 4 storm, with winds reaching up to 230 km/h and torrential rains, killed at least 800 people and displaced thousands in October 2016. Homes and crops have been destroyed, and widespread flooding poses a particular risk for waterborne diseases. With Haiti still recovering from the 2010 earthquake, many people were already living in terrible situations before the Hurricane.
